About us

About Solihull Cancer Support Group

We are a small, practical charity based in Solihull, welcoming patients, survivors, families, friends, and bereaved people from Solihull, Birmingham, Coventry, and surrounding areas.

Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation.

Recognised by the Queen's Award

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service recognises the care, consistency, and quiet commitment given by volunteers. For a local cancer support group, it is a meaningful sign that the welcome people find here is trusted beyond Solihull.

Trusted local partnerships

Our twice-monthly meetings are hosted in the hub room at Marie Curie Hospice on Marsh Lane. Through Find Me Help, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, we also help people find the right local services when they need more specialist signposting.

Small charity, direct impact

We're a small, entirely volunteer-run charity. Our last audited accounts (year ending January 2025) reported total income of £1,543 and total expenditure of £458. Every pound goes directly into supporting people in our community. We publish our financial reports to the Charity Commission annually.

Rooted in Solihull, open to the region

Patients, relatives, friends, and bereaved people come together for conversation, practical signposting, and a promise to meet each other with patience.
A warm interior meeting space

A place where silence is allowed

You do not need to perform. You can sit quietly, come with a question or come with no words at all. We meet to make space for people to take things at their own pace.
People in gentle conversation

Practical and emotional support

Alongside emotional support, we point people toward local services, helplines and treatment support in ways that are clear, timely and kind.

Everyone can help

If you have time to welcome someone, sort a noticeboard, or sit beside someone in anxiety, you already know the value of what this group can do.
The group exists so nobody has to carry cancer alone.
